James V. DeRado, 89, Of Carlstadt

CARLSTADT, N.J. – James V. DeRado, a resident of Carlstadt, formerly of Jersey City, died Tuesday, June 28. He was 89.

He was born to Luige and Mary Norcia and raised in Jersey City.

 He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. For 15 years, he worked for Westinghouse in Jersey City then moved to Florida and worked for ITT until retiring.

He was a competitive archer and was Florida State Men's Barebow Champion for five years, from 1971 to 1975, an avid bow hunter and played semi pro football in 1947. 

He is survived by his children Steven DeRado and his wife Mary Lou, Christine DeRado, Dawn Corrado and her husband Tim and Desi DeRado and his wife Janelle; grandchildren Jessica Hensley Johnson, Steven DeRado, Jr., Angelo Corrado, Damien Corrado, Dustin DeRado, Jake DeRado; great-grandchildren Freya Wyatt, Ayden Johnson and Mary Johnson; and siblings Linda Anthony, Mandy Norcia, Jerry P. Norcia, and Robert Norcia.

He was predeceased by a brother Joseph DeRado.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 2, from 12-4 p.m. with a funeral service at 3 p.m., at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt. Cremation will be private.
